ACHIEVEMENT OBJECTIVE(S):
Understand how the ways in which leadership of groups is acquired and exercised have consequences for communities and societies (L4)
Understand How Cultural Interaction Impacts On Cultures and Societies (L5)
‘A Sate of Conflict’ examines the ideas about conflicts and their effects. It is designed to explore conflicts at a personal scale involving family and friends through to a global scale looking at conflicts resulting in civil wars, and wars involving a number of countries and terrorism. The unit aims to develop an understanding of the impact of conflict on individuals, communities, nations and the environment. Finally students will examine the responses to conflict and what measures have been adopted to relieve the impact of conflicts and strategies for conflict resolution.

A possible teaching sequence for the unit with key resources indicated to support the unit.
Two assessment opportunities – one for each achievement objective. These assess the students’ conceptual understanding of the achievement objective, and the Social Inquiry Process.
