AS91932 (1.1) 'Global Fertility Issues - The Shifting Narrative'
This internal achievement standard Demonstrate understanding of the spatial distribution of a phenomenon and its impacts on place explores the highly relevant and fascinating topic of global fertility rates. Ākonga explore how populations change over time and learn how factors like economics, culture, and healthcare affect fertility rates. This knowledge is crucial because fertility rates impact important issues like population growth, aging societies, and environmental sustainability.
The assessment is structured to ensure that ākonga can meet the requirements of the Standard. The tasks guide ākonga through collecting and presenting their data, explaining their findings and forming a conclusion, and finally explaining how the data strengths and/or limits their understanding of the environment.
In addition, the resource includes 18 teaching information and activity sheets, accompanied by a suggested teaching sequence. These materials are designed to aid ākonga in understanding weather phenomena and developing their skills in processing, presenting, describing, and drawing conclusions from data.
This assessment and the teaching resources provide excellent scaffolding for the students for L2 – AS91242 Differences in Development and possibly the L2 and L3 geographic issues and global topics.
