Achievement Standard 91013 (1.7) ‘Seven Billion and Counting…’
This internal achievement standard looks at the global topic of Total Fertility rates – the global pattern, the factors and/or processes that cause or contribute to the pattern, and the significance for people of the global pattern of fertility rates.
An extremely relevant topic of today as our world population has now passed 7 billion. This topic is also a fantastic opportunity to develop students thinking around population issues, particularly if you have chosen not to include theAS91008 Demonstrate geographic understanding of population concepts in your Level 1 Geography programme.
This assessment and the teaching resources provide excellent scaffolding for the students for L2 – AS91242 Differences in Development and possibly the geographic issues and global topics.
